Teaching the first group of students in my beginner coloured pencil course provided me with so many learnings. One of the biggest was practicing what I was preaching. I was telling my students that they had to explore different papers, pencils, and other coloured pencil supplies to figure out what would work best for them. There was only one problem with this and that was that I kept returning to the same art supplies that were familiar to me. So I decided to get curious and I did some research on drafting film. It was a surface that other colour pencil artists were using.
Here is the recording that I shared with my students after I experimented with Grafix drafting film for the first time. Needless to say, I was smitten.
I want to hear from you. What art supplies have you recently discovered?
